Former One Room School House
Improvements made in stages as time allowed.
Stage One
When purchased the school house had aleady been converted to a two bedroom home. The ground floor was divided into a cramped living room, dining area, kitchen, decent bedroom and bath. In the eaves were a tiny bedroom, sink and even smaller storage area.

As purchased in March 1998. Upstairs rooms could only use the middle 8' due to the low, sloped roof.

April 1998, after raising the roof 4 feet to allow upstairs rooms to run the width of the structure.
When done, the upstairs included two nice bedrooms and a full bath with skylight. |
Stage Two
The real transformation.

The original structure is surrounded by porches and additions.

A new wing is added for a master bedroom with bath, great room, and laundry.

The old living room (shown at right torn up for construction in progress) will become the foyer with room for a piano and a small home office nook.

The Finished Product
|
When done the home has room for an active family. The footprint of the original school house can be seen in the middle.
Lots of windows, a shady front porch for summer afternoons and dry entry in rain or snow. A privacy panel fronts the covered portion of the pool deck and great room sliding glass doors. |

Why not add a barn for goats, rabbits, and eventually a horse or two?
Two dormers on both the east and west make the 2nd floor a perfect, well ventilated, play/party room for both kids and adults as well as hay, straw & feed storage |
